Project: MK1 Escort 2ltr turbo (Tango)

Here we go with another project, this one was called Tango. It came in as rolling shell. 1st job at cbc is to remove the running gear, put on our spits, we have been using this design in spitting a shell before blast since 1995 it is so easy to get round the shell and lock into an area you want to work on.
The shell was blast cleaned inside, underneath, engine bay, boot area.

The customer wanted a fast road car that would look great and be easy to live with & that is what we gave him.

This has turned out a real stunner. As you go through the project you see the attention to detail by us through out this restoration project.

We had to do a fair bit of prep as the previous owner had had some repairs carried out so we had to remove all the repairs to see what had been done

NS wheel house

Drivers floor

Passenger floor

Tango was fully seam welded

Front panel & NS wing

All the panel gaps were checked throughout the project

OS sill

new sills were fitted

Tango was then 5 linked, Turreted, double bulk head support plate fitted, large gearbox tunnel, diff tunnel, fire wall, seat rails, weld on strut brace, a ram air air filter fitted under drivers wing, modified front panel for intercooler and rad, holes cut in front panel, gearbox mountings for T5 Gearbox,
and a full roll cage picking up front and rear turrets Tig welded in
Here we are fitting the seats they are on adjustable sliders

After Tango came out of fab it was reblasted and inspected

Then into the paint shop. The hours that go into paint nobody would believe, the preperation is the key here, without it you do not get the end result.

A full bare metal respray was in store for tango.

Full baremetal rub down
Etch prime
Sealer
Primer
Stone gaurd
Etc Etc as you will see in the pictures alot goes into painting a car at CBC.

Starting to look the part.

Starting to apply the stone guard

Underneath all stone guarded

Prime everything again 2 coats

Going blue at last Hang on how can we call this car Tango it's blue !!!

Here we are in primer ready for a rub down. The customer went for Electric Monza blue on the outside of the shell and engine bay. The inside of the shell and the inside of the panels went Kermit silver.

After a rub down all break throughs are coated with etch primer
